Just a few weeks after implementing the TND™ 760 across its fleet, executives at RJW Transport report a 50 percent reduction in idle time and fuel costs savings of $50,000.
RJW, a 140-truck fleet based in Woodridge, Ill., sought out to find a fleet management solution that could automate HOS logs and fuel tax reporting, plus increase miles per gallon with better navigation and a reduction in idle time. Ultimately, the Rand McNally TND™ 760 was chosen based on easy integration to the OTS fuel tax reporting solution, ease of installation, and a positive response from RJW’s owner-operator drivers.
“Since implementing the TND™ 760s five weeks ago, we’ve experienced a .8 MPG improvement, resulting in a $50,000 cost savings,” said Kevin Williamson, President of RJW Transport. “But what’s been a truly unexpected benefit are the significant improvements in our fleet production – drivers are logging more miles, and we’re improving our fleet management with reporting provided by Rand McNally’s Connect web portal.”
The ATA held its annual Leadership Meeting this month in sunny (and very hot) Scottsdale, Arizona. On the agenda were meetings, updates and the exchange of ideas with others in the trucking industry. The Safety subcommittee meeting was very well attended with the topic of E-Logs providing the most robust discussion.
ATRI, the research arm of the ATA, shared some recent results including a review of the FMCSA’s research into the “new” HOS rules. And one of the evenings, Rand McNally hosted a “Boots and Barbecue” hoedown. We’ll see everyone at the ATA Management Conference & Exhibition in San Diego in October.
