Trucking Industry Sets Revenue Record

2014 was a record-setting year for the trucking industry. Check out some of the impressive stats from the ATA's American Trucking Trends 2015 report.

  • The trucking industry generated a record-setting $700.4 billion in revenue in 2014. This marks the first time revenue has ever crossed the $700 billion threshold.
  • Trucks moved more than 9 billion tons of freight last year, representing 68.8% of all freight moved.
  • The number of active truck drivers in the U.S. increased to 3.4 million in 2014, a 4.7% increase from 2013

For 2015, the ATA is predicting another robust year, although the capacity crunch is expected to continue.
