At least twenty prehistoric platform mounds, a reconstructed Indian village, nature trails, and a museum are set near picnic sites on the banks of the Black Warrior River. The park is one of several units of the Alabama Museum of Natural History at the University of Alabama, in Tuscaloosa. The park's campground has full hookups, a dump station, and a family-style bathhouse.
