Cheaha State Park is a 2,799-acre mountain retreat with great scenery all year. Amenities include a hotel, family cabins and chalets, modern campsites, camp store, comfort stations, restaurant, meeting room, group lodge, picnic area, play area, and refreshments. Handicapped-accessible sites are available. The Cheaha Resort's toll-free number is 800-846-2654; call for any details or reservations.
Visitors enjoy swimming, paddle boating, fishing on a six-acre lake, and six hiking trails. Any fishing requires an Alabama state fishing license. Guided tours are available, but only through reservations.
Pets: Leashed pets are permitted in park and campgrounds but not in any beach areas, inside cottages, or in the hotel.
Reservations: Alabama has a central information and reservation telephone number: 800-252-7275. There is no fee for making a reservation. Most Alabama state parks charge a nominal day-use entrance fee per person.
