Larger than most wildlife refuges in the lower 48 state, this refuge is home to the Kofa Mountains, endless miles of cactus (including the Teddy Bear cholla, known for its white-golden needles that glow when backlit by the sun) and more than 185 bird species. If you are quiet, you may catch a glimpse of the shy desert bighorn sheep that live in this area.
I-10 exits 17 and 19.
