From the building's terrace, soaring sandstone rock formations take center stage in front of Pikes Peak and the never-ending Colorado sky. The visitor center serves as the gateway to the Garden of the Gods City Park, where the area's natural beauty truly shines through. Bizarre sandstone formations, balancing rocks, and eroded pinnacles dot this 1,391-acre preserve near Manitou Springs. Tarantulas, honey ants, rattlesnakes, mule deer, magpies, hawks, and bighorn sheep all share this park's land. Explore the Garden on a guided walk with a naturalist or hike one of several trails on your own. The visitor center also includes a movie (fee), exhibits, bus tour (fee and in the summer only), nature talks, a cafe, and gift shops. Admission to the park and visitor center is free. The park is open from 5 AM to 11 PM in the summer and 5 AM to 9 PM in the winter. The Visitor Center is open from 9 AM to 5 PM in the winter and 8 AM to 8 PM Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
