Turkey Run State Park situated in west-central Indiana offers camping, hiking, and fishing (with the appropriate licenses) along Sugar Creek. One of the park's main attractions is a nature center complete with a constellation-projection system. Miles of hiking trails run through sandstone ravines and shaded forests and make for easy or challenging hiking depending on your route. A suspension bridge leads across the river into a web of trails that allow you to explore the region. Visit the Colonel Richard Lieber Cabin Memorial built in commemoration of the father of the Indiana state park system. You'll find facilities for tennis, swimming, and other sports; a saddle barn is available if you're interested in horseback riding. One of this area's most popular activities is canoeing Sugar Creek. You may bring your own canoe or rent from one of the area vendors. If you're planning on staying overnight, the park offers 213 campsites as well as cabins and a dump station. The park also boasts the Turkey Run Inn, which has an indoor pool and a restaurant. Call the inn at 765-597-2211 or 877-500-6151 for reservation information. Pets: Leashed pets are permitted in certain areas. Please call for details. Reservations: For Indiana state parks, reservations are accepted online or by calling 866-622-6746.
