This nine-building museum includes the Percy and Small Shipyard, where 41 four-, five-, and six-masted schooners were built between 1897 and 1920. The buildings are open to visitors who may see volunteers learning to build wooden boats as well as artifacts and maritime paintings. Boatbuilding classes are offered as well. The shipyard has historic vessels, including a 142-foot fishing schooner built in 1942. Hourly boat cruises on Kennebec River are available, and visitors can have snacks or lunch overlooking the river at the Long Reach Hall building. Donnel House, the home of the former shipyard owner, was opened to visitors in 2005.
