With 17 buildings still standing, Fort Totten is one of the best-preserved frontier outposts of the Old West. Built to protect the overland route to Montana, the fort later became a Native American boarding school. The site is open mid-May to mid-September from 8 AM to 5 PM. It's located south of Devils Lake on Route 57.
