Located on 1,000 acres, Poinsett Park has a rare combination of Upcountry and Lowcountry plant life. Hiking, biking, and equestrian trails are popular. Fishing required a South Carolina fishing license. Fishing boats are available for rentals. The park has furnished cabin/villas and campsites with water and electric hook-ups. Handicapped-accessible sites are available. The park is located off Hwy 261, 18 miles southwest of Sumter.
Pets: Leashed pets are permitted in the park and campgrounds but not in or around lodging facilities.
Reservations: South Carolina has a central number for camping and lodging reservations: 866-345-7275. A two-night minimum is required. Reservations made on less than three days' notice must be made directly through the individual parks.
