This 1864 Army fort is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Among its many original buildings are the soldiers' barracks, officers' quarters, and hospital, all of which are open for viewing during the summer. The annual Fort Sisseton Historical Festival takes place the first weekend in June, with cavalry drills, muzzle-loader shooting contests, tomahawk throws, Native American dancing, and living history demonstrations.
The park is open year-round. Fishing, boating and canoeing are offered on Kettle Lake. The park has a small campground with both electric and non-electric sites, rustic cabins, rental tents and tipis. Campsites are open May to September, and cabins are available year-round.
Located 10 miles SW of Lake City off SD 25.
