More than 300,000 people are buried in this cemetery-including more than 3,800 former slaves. Many of America's war dead are marked with simple headstones here. Noteworthy are the Civil War Unknowns monument, the Tomb of the Unknowns, and John F. Kennedy's grave. Although Tourmobiles are available, walking is encouraged. Visitors enjoy the Changing of the Guard ceremony, which occurs at least once every hour throughout the year. Nearby are the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial and the Netherlands Carillon.
