Overlooking the Chattahoochee River and the Walter F. George Reservoir, Eufala is a town of stately mansion and magnificent homes. The Seth Lore and Irwinton Historic District is a treasure trove with hundreds of structures built in the 19th-century Italianate and Greek Revival styles. Among the homes you can tour are the Shorter Mansion (1884), Kendall Manor (ca. 1865), and Fendall Hall (1860). Other homes are open during the April pilgrimage.
You'll also find nature in abundance in Eufaula. Nearby, in the Eufala National Wildlife Refuge, you can try to catch a glimpse of the 280 species of waterfowl and migratory birds who haunt this 11,000-acre preserve on the Chattahoochee.
