Giant Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) dams on the Tennessee River near Florence create abundant power and lakes for excellent fishing. View TVA exhibits at Wilson Dam. At Joe Wheeler State Park, swim, fish, boat, hike, golf, or play tennis. W.C. Handy, composer of "St. Louis Blues," was born here in a cabin, now restored. Also of interest are the Indian Mound and Museum, Pope's Tavern Museum (1830), and the spectacular view from 300-foot Renaissance Tower restaurant at Pickwick Lake.
