Mobile is bordered on the east by the Mobile River and on the South by Mobile Bay. The Mississippi border is to the west. The original colonial city of Mobile was built according to the Spanish land grant system of squares. Outside downtown, the city's layout does not follow any specific system other than having some main feeder streets running east-west and north-south. Interstate 65 crosses the city north-south and Interstate 10 crosses the city east-west. Airport Boulevard is a major east-west commercial thoroughfare that is convenient to the airport. Keep in mind that this and other major streets become congested at rush hours, approximately 7 AM to 8:30 AM and 4 PM to 6 PM. Reasonably priced parking garages and metered street parking are available downtown. Rental cars are available at the airport.
