Although it is perhaps best known for auto racing, Talladega is also the home of the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, a world leader in education and services for blind and deaf children and adults, and Talladega College, one of the nation's oldest historically African-American, private, four-year liberal arts colleges. Established in 1834, the city is one of the state's oldest inland communities. At Heritage Hall Museum, you'll find displays illustrating the city's social and cultural history, as well as works by local and regional artists. Talladega Superspeedway presents two premier NASCAR 500 events in April and October. At the three-building complex at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, you can view more than 150 racing cars valued at over $15 million. The legends of motor racing from around the world are inducted during annual ceremonies. Also in the area, the family-operated Bryant Vineyard is open for tours and wine tastings.
