Little Rock lies south of the Arkansas River. North Little Rock is the city north of the river. Both cities have numbered streets running east and west. East-west addresses in both cities are divided along Main Street. North-south addresses in Little Rock are divided by Markham Street. The Wilbur Mills Freeway (I-630) is the main east-west route through downtown Little Rock, connecting Interstate 30 and Interstate 430. Bus: Central Arkansas Transit buses cost $1.10 per ride, $0.10 for transfers. Service Monday through Saturday is from about 6 AM to 9 PM. A few buses run on Sunday. (501-375-1163) Taxi: Cruising taxicabs can be spotted near the larger hotels, but it is best to order by phone. Rates are $3 to get in the cab and a $1.60 for each mile inside city limits. There are two companies: Black and White (501-374-0333) and Capital Cab (501-568-0462).

(LIT) Little Rock National Airport is off I-440 on the southeast side, just four miles from downtown. (501-375-1509) Transportation from airport to downtown: Bus: Central Arkansas Transit bus #12 to downtown operates from 6 AM to 8:30 PM and costs $1.10. Shuttle: Most hotels provide free shuttle service. Taxi: Taxi starters are found near the baggage claim area. Expect to pay $15-$20 to reach downtown.
