Don't miss the opportunity to walk in the shoes of Glenn Frey and Jackson Browne at "Standin' On A Corner" Park, which features a bronze statue and mural depicting the story of the Eagles song from the the 1970s, "Take It Easy." Also downtown, the Old Trails Museum features exhibits on Route 66, the Santa Fe Railway, and the Anasazi. La Posada Hotel is a grand hotel from the 1930s with fabulous gardens, designed by Mary Colter.

West of town, Meteor Crater is 550 feet deep and nearly a mile across. Apollo astronauts trained in this lunar-like landscape. Hike around (but not into) the crater, and visit the Museum of Astrogeology. Northeast of Winslow, you'll find Homolovi Ruins State Park, with archaeological exhibits, pueblo ruins, petroglyphs, hiking trails, and camping. McHood Park and Clear Cleek Reservoir offers camping, canoeing, and picnicking.
