Kings Beach State Recreation Area is located on Lake Tahoe, one-and-a-half miles from the Nevada border. Ideal for a family outing, this large, sandy beach has a playground and a roped-in wading area for children. The beach does not have lifeguards, however. The prime season here is June through September, with average temperatures in the mid-80s. Boating is a popular activity at this beach, with a boat launch area on-site. Picnic grounds and restrooms are available. A conference center is next door. The beach is within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and motels.
