The Mile-High City boasts a vibrant and varied scene once the sun sinks behind the Rockies. Jazz buffs can choose from many excellent venues. Dazzle Restaurant & Lounge brings in the legends as well as providing a home for top local talent. For an intimate evening of Mexican food and hot jazz, El Chapultepec serves the music live every night but Monday, and their burritos are pretty good, too. The name of Herb's Jazz & Blues, says it all -- revelling in its dive-bar atmosphere, Herb's offers live music most nights of the week.
Country & western fans should check out the Grizzly Rose. This huge venue features live music nightly, and its gigantic dance floor is always open for you to take a spin. There's lots of down-home food and a huge souvenir shop, as well. A Denver nightlife landmark, the Mercury Cafe offers a wide variety of musical artists, along with a healthy dose of poets and other kinds of performers.
If your taste runs to food, drink and classy, off-beat entertainment, stop by Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret in LoDo. Chicken Lips Comedy Theater is a must-see for fans of improvisational comedy. For a more sedate evening, the cigar-and-scotch set might want to check out the Churchill Bar in the Brown Palace Hotel. The extensive selection of premium cigars is surpassed only by the array of single malt scotches.
Denver harbors a host of great rock and dance clubs that cater to just about every musical taste. For up-to-the-minute schedules, consult Westword, Denver's weekly newspaper.
