The huge hot springs here have attracted people for centuries. Once valued for spiritual healing by the Utes, the mineral waters were first seen by Europeans when an ailing explorer was brought here by Native Americans. You can bathe year-round in the two-block-long outdoor pool where the temperature is maintained at 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Three naturally-heated vapor caves are also available to those looking for a curative assist from Mother Nature. The town is the gateway to the recreational areas of White River National Forest, scenic Glenwood Canyon, and numerous ski areas to the east and southeast. Ski Sunlight is in Glenwood Springs and a few miles west Harvey Gap State Park offers exceptional water sports including scuba diving. If you're a history buff, you may want to visit the grave of gunslinger Doc Holliday in Lynwood Cemetery.
