Rolling hills and numerous lakes surround this pleasant central Florida town that was named after its founder's birthplace in France. The Clermont Chain of 13 lakes along the Palatlakaha River provide good fishing grounds for bass, perch, catfish, and bluegill. You'll find swimming, canoeing, and picnicking facilities at Lake Louisa State Park south of the city. For a bird's eye view of the area, take the elevator to the top of the Citrus Tower, with its 226-foot-high observation deck. Also of interest, the House of Presidents has changing exhibits on presidential campaigns, a miniature White House, and various authentic and replicated artifacts.
