If you've trudged around Disney World or the Universal Studios theme park all day, Orlando offers innumerable nightspots for those who still have plenty of get-up-and-go, and a few for those who feel like taking it easy. As you might expect, there's precious little in this town that doesn't revolve around a theme.
If you're staying near Disney World, you may want to consider the park's nighttime offerings at Pleasure Island, a gargantuan wonderland for adults. It's jam-packed with eateries and razzle-dazzle nightclubs, including 8 Trax (a seventies-themed video bar with disco music and Twister game boards on the floor), a comedy club, and numerous other dance joints and watering holes featuring grand-scale gimmicks that are pure Disney. At Disney's BoardWalk Resort, you'll find a sports bar that outdoes all sports bars, dueling pianists, an art-deco dance hall, and lots more.
For a decidedly different dining experience, you might be game for the jousting at Medieval Times, the cowboys and Americana at the Dixie Stampede, or the swashbuckling at Pirate's Dinner Adventure. Then there's Bergamo's Italian Restaurant, where the waiters sing opera and showtunes while serving you.
For a laid-back evening in a less showy atmosphere than you are likely to find anywhere else in the Orlando area, visit the Enzian Theater. It's located in a tranquil, park-like setting, where you can view first-run art films from plush seats while dining and drinking.
To discover other nightlife options — and there are plenty — pick up the Friday issue of the Orlando Sentinel.
