Many restored Spanish Colonial buildings may be visited on walking tours outlined at the Pensacola Historical Museum at Seville Square, the center of the historic district. Houses built during the 1870 lumber boom, including the fine restored Dorr House, distinguish the city. At the Naval Air Station is the extensive National Museum of Naval Aviation. Also see The Zoo (in Gulf Breeze), and the T.T. Wentworth Jr. Florida State Museum. There are eight miles of wide sugar-sand beach along clear turquoise waters. Visitors come to swim, sunbathe, walk, gather shells, and play in the sand. They also go snorkeling, scuba diving, sailboarding, and jet-skiing. Cyclists and joggers like the beachfront trail; shoppers and fun-seekers find boutiques, miniature golf, and more, along the town's walkways. Major season is March to August.
