With numerous high-rise condominiums and 3.5 miles of sand warmed by the Gulf Stream, Pompano Beach is a popular resort town in the center of the Gold Coast. Named for a tropical game fish found in local waters, the city is noted for its sport fishing facilities which include an 1,080-foot municipal pier. You'll find tennis, soccer, swimming and other sports facilities at the city's 19 parks. Divers enjoy the off-shore living coral reef, while horse-racing enthusiast head for the Pompano Beach Harness Track. Neighboring Coconut Creek is the home of Butterfly World where you can walk amidst thousands of butterflies and hummingbirds in three screened-in aviaries.
