West Palm Beach is easy to navigate because its streets are laid out on a grid. Numbered streets run east-west, and the main north-south arteries are U.S. Route 1 and Olive Avenue. You'll probably want to use a car for travelling between the various communities within Palm Beach County, or if you plan to visit Lake Okeechobee or the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. Interstate 95 provides quick access to the communities north or south, unless you prefer the scenic route along the Intracoastal Waterway. Within the city, or between West Palm and Palm Beach, you might find that parking is a hassle and that the trip is more enjoyable when you rent a bicycle or take a cab. Bicycle: You can rent bicycles at the Palm Beach Bicycle Trail Shop.
