Legend says Indian warriors came to the springs to cure their battle wounds. Franklin D. Roosevelt, stricken with polio, came seeking benefit from the springs. On April 12, 1945, while president of the United States, he died here in his Little White House. The cottage is maintained as it was when he died as a memorial.
