Although the community here was settled as early as 1838, it was another 118 years before Long Grove was formally incorporated as a village in 1956. With its dedication to preserving small village character, Long Grove has become an island resisting the encroachments of overdevelopment in the burgeoning northwest Chicago suburbs. The community is best known for its Historic Antique Business District. In the restored 19th-century village, you'll find quaint antique shops, boutiques, and restaurants. A covered bridge, brick sidewalks, and town pond add to the feeling of an earlier era of tranquility and tradition.
