Four interstate highways converge at Indianapolis: I-70, I-74, I-65, and I-69. Interstate 465 forms a beltway around the city. City streets are laid out on a grid with four boulevards radiating diagonally from the center of the city. Numbered streets run east-west. Meridian Street divides addresses into east and west. Washington Street divides addresses into north and south. Parking downtown is available in private parking garages for about $15 per day.

Bus: IndyGo (Metro) routes cover the city extensively. Fares are $1.25. Transfers cost $0.25. Bus generally run between 5 AM and midnight. (317-635-3344) Taxi: Maximum rates are $1.25 for the first 1/5 mile and $2 for each additional mile. Cabs can be hailed on the street, found at cab stands, or called. Two of the larger companies are Yellow Cab (317-487-7777) and Metro Taxi (317-634-1112).

Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is located ten miles west of downtown. Transportation from the airport to downtown Indianapolis: Bus: IndyGo service leaves every half hour. Cost is $1.25. (317-635-3344) Shuttle: Carey Indiana limousines can be found at the Ground Transportation Center. Cost is $11 per person. (317-241-7100) Taxi: Cabs are available near the baggage claim area. Press the call button to bring a cab from the tax waiting area. Expect to pay about $20 for a 20-minute trip to downtown.
