Bardstown's My Old Kentucky Home State Park is known worldwide because of the famous Stephen Foster song. The home tour includes rare furnishings, much as when Foster visited in 1852, and costumed guides. Each summer the outdoor musical drama "Stephen Foster-The Musical" is performed in the park. Visit the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, Wickland mansion-which is the home of three governors and open by appointment only, Old County Jail, and Oscar Getz Museum of Whiskey History. Nearby distilleries include Heaven Hill, Jim Beam, and Maker's Mark. Ride and dine on My Old Kentucky Dinner Train. In nearby New Haven you can visit the Kentucky Railway Museum and take a scenic 22-mile, round-trip train ride in vintage coaches.
