Settled in 1779 and named for the wife of one of the town's chief benefactors, Elizabethtown was for two decades the home of Abraham Lincoln's father, Thomas, who departed here for Indiana in 1816. You can get maps outlining several self-guided tours of the town's historic districts.
The Lincoln Heritage House has architectural features and woodwork known to have been done by Thomas Lincoln when the house was constructed in 1805. The Brown-Pusey House, an inn built in 1825, once housed such notables as General Custer and Jenny Lind. Don't miss Swope's Cars of Yesteryear Museum, featuring a great collection of antique and vintage automobiles; admission is free.
