In general, you'll find a fair amount of the city's nightlife near Highland Road, where college students hang out, and aboard the riverboat casinos.
Live Cajun music accompanies the spicy Cajun food being served nightly at Boutin's. The Belle of Baton Rouge riverboat casino features a jazz brunch on Sundays. At Hollywood Casino, sample from the large buffet-style spread and listen to live rock bands on the weekends.
For dining and entertainment downtown, try the Roux House, which features live entertainment from both electric and acoustic rockers six nights a week. Check the entertainment listings at the Varsity Theatre, an 800-seat venue that books both local and touring national acts.
For comprehensive event and club listings, be sure to pick up the Friday edition of the The Advocate and see the entertainment guide.
