Springfield is located near the junction of Interstate 91 and Interstate 90 (Massachusetts Turnpike). This is an old city, and streets don't follow a strict grid pattern. A good city map will come in handy. Rental cars are available at the airport and at locations in town.

Bus: Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) buses run Monday through Saturday from approximately 5 AM until 10 PM. Tickets are $1 and $0.25 for transfers. (413-781-7882) Taxi: Cabs may be hailed on the street but it is easier to call for service. Rates are established by the city and are $2 to get in and $2.40 for each mile. Bradley International Airport (BDL), New England's second-largest airport, is 18 miles south of Springfield near Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Transportation from the airport to downtown Springfield: Taxi:The 20-minute cab ride to Springfield costs a flat fee of $42. Taxi-starters are located in each terminal.
