You'll find Springfield's nightlife heavily concentrated in the Worthington Street area, where clubs cater to the dance crowd. Rain and the Hippodrome are two popular spots where deejays spin tunes in a high-tech environment.
Regarded as Springfield's best blues club (and among the best anywhere), Theodore's serves tasty barbecue every day plus live blues bands Thursday through Saturday night. The Ivanhoe, a restaurant to West Springfield, offers Top 40 and oldies bands on Friday. But if you're looking for something a bit more exotic, you can head to Café Lebanon, where live belly dancers entertain the diners on Fridays and Saturdays, or try Hu Ke Lau in Chicopee where full-blown Hawaiian shows -- complete with fire, war and hula dances -- command the floor on Fridays and Saturdays.
For a microbrewery and restaurant, visit The Brewery in Northampton, located in an old carriage house with round windows and a steeple on top. It features an extensive menu and loads of atmosphere in its multi-tiered beer garden. For a popular Northampton dining experience, try Spoleto, an Italian eatery with a mixed modern and classical decor.
For comprehensive club and entertainment listings, pick up the Thursday edition of the The Republican and look for the Weekend section.
