This resort town of stately homes on the tip of the elbow of Cape Cod still supports an active fishing fleet. Every afternoon between 2 PM and 6 PM, you can take in the excitement as the boats return to unload their catch at the harbor's fishing pier. The picturesque Chatham Light offers vistas of the sea and land. Elsewhere in town, the Chatham Railroad Museum features 10,000 pieces of memorabilia, models, and photographs all housed in Chatham restored railway station. You can also visit the Grist Mill (1797) in Chase Park, and Atwood House Historical Museum (1752), with its shell collection, antique furnishings, portraits and murals. South of town, the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge offers an opportunity for bird lovers to look for the more than 250 species that use this off-shore island as a resting place on their flights along the Atlantic Flyway.
