A port city on Chesapeake Bay and the birthplace of Harriet Tubman, Cambridge is a beautiful place with a rich sense of history. Some key places to visit include Brannock Maritime Museum, Richardson Maritime Museum (with its wooden boats), Meredith House (1760), and Neild Museum (with exhibits of Maryland governors of the area, antique dolls, and fine furnishings). There are many historic houses on brick-paved High Street. Old Trinity Church in Church Creek (ca. 1675) is said to be one of the nation's oldest churches still holding regular services.
Take a tour at Brooks Barrel Company, one of the last slat cooperages in the U.S. Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is an area of tidal marsh, woodland, and freshwater ponds that is a haven for endangered species like bald eagles and Delmarva fox squirrels; it's also the wintering ground for thousands of geese and ducks. The revitalized downtown feature many new shops and restaurants.
