Bucksport offers unique scenery and a real sense of history. There is an eerie sight at the grave of Colonel Jonathan Buck, Bucksport's founder (1764) and its local judge. His obelisk tombstone has a stain shaped like a woman's leg. Local legend purports that it was put there by the ghost of a woman Buck sentenced as a witch and cannot be removed. Northeast Historic Films is a nationally recognized organization that collects and restores antique films; admission is free. Also visit Ft. Knox State Park in nearby Prospect and Wilson Museum in nearby Castine.
