Metro Connections: This comprehensive, three-hour tour is available year-round, weather permitting. On it, you will see the State Capitol, Summit Avenue, Nicollet Mall, Minnehaha Falls, and many lakes and parks. (612-333-8687)

Minneapolis RiverCity Trolley: The Minnesota Historical Society trains the trolley conductors on this tour of the city's main cultural attractions and parks. It includes sites of historical significance such as St. Anthony's Falls, the Stone Arch, and historic Main Street, as well as more modern attractions like the IDS Tower and the Walker Art Center. Tours leave every 30 minutes Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm. Operates from May to October. (612-204-0000 or 612-661-4700)

Padelford Packet Boat Company, Inc: Steamboats modeled after the Mississippi riverboats of the 19th century travel from downtown St. Paul to historic Fort Snelling, Minnesota's first permanent structure. Tours last about two hours and depart from the Plymouth Avenue Bridge and Boom Island dock in Minneapolis, Memorial Day to Labor Day. (651-227-1100)

Gray Line Tours: This summer tour includes Summit Avenue, Minnehaha Falls, Fort Snelling, and the Walker Art Center. A narrated cruise down the Mississippi is also offered. Available June through August. (612-469-5020)
