The county seat of Lincoln County is a center for lumbering and outdoors recreation. The rugged Cabinet Mountain Wilderness in the Kootenai National Forest includes 94,000 acres of dense forest, rocky peaks and bright blue lakes. You'll find scenic drives through Kootenai Canyon, along the Yaak and Fisher rivers, and past Bull Lake. The Ross Creek Cedar Grove Scenic Area is the home of awe-inspiring, ancient Western Red Cedars. The wild and turbulent Kootenai Falls is accessible from Kootenai Falls County Park. A swinging bridge over the gorge is available for those daring souls who wish to cross to the other side. Lake Koocanusa, formed by Libby Dam, stretches north for ninety miles and goes well into Canada. Numerous public facilities on the lake provide opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, and camping.
