Agates for rockhounds and paddlefish for anglers make Glendive a popular stop along the Yellowstone River valley. In fact, Glendive calls itself the "Paddlefish Capital of the World." Yellowstone caviar, otherwise known as paddlefish caviar, is available in 4-oz. tins. The town is also home to the Frontier Gateway Museum and Makoshika State Park, which preserves the badlands of eastern Montana. Before the badlands were formed, this area was a lush tropical forest, an ecosystem on display at the Makoshika Dinosaur Museum. Visitors see T-rex, triceratops, fossilized eggs, and marine plants. Glendive is also a hub for numerous outdoor activities, including hunting, biking, boating, and skiing.
