The best word to apply to Charlotte's after-dark scene is "variety."
The Double Door Inn is the place to hear roots music. This popular venue books blues, jazz and acoustic performers throughout the week. Fans of country music and dancing can kick up their heels to live bands Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at Coyote Joe's, one of the area's premier country dance clubs.
Several Charlotte venues offer jazz for discerning diners. The Jazz Cafe has live jazz most nights of the week and an open-mic poetry night on Mondays. And, the Cajun Queen features jazz, in both Dixieland and traditional settings, live seven days a week.
For big yuks, the Comedy Zone sets hilarious headliners in the headlights Friday and Saturday nights.
