A car is probably your best transportation option in Greensboro, and rental cars are available both at the airport and in town. Interstates 40 (east/west), 85 (north/south), and 73/74 (north/south) intersect in the southern portion of Greensboro, but U.S. Highways 29, 220, and 421 provide better access to downtown destinations. Major Greensboro streets radiate outwards from the city center, but most secondary streets follow a grid pattern. A good map is your best bet for finding your way around town.

Bus: The city's bus service is run by the Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA). Buses operate from 5:15 AM to 11:30 PM Monday through Friday; 6 AM to 10 PM on Saturdays; and 6 AM to 6 PM Sundays. Basic adult fare is $1; fareboxes accept both coins and bills, but do not give change. Transfers are free, but must be obtained upon paying your fare. Discount ticket books and monthly passes are available. Call 336-335-6499 for route and schedule information. Taxi: Taxis may be called for dispatch to your location.
