As a college town and cultural melting pot, the city boasts a varied and vibrant club scene. Launchpad gets consistently voted the best place to hear live music in Albuquerque. A top-notch sound system and cutting-edge booking policy gets additional help from the pool tables and nightly drink specials. The almost indescribably funky Burt's Tiki Lounge takes top club honors for its eclectic music programming, support of local musicians, and truly affordable pricing policy: no cover, ever. For live country music, Cowboys is the place to go. Bands play here almost every night of the week.
Many of Albuquerque's swankier nightclubs are found in the larger hotels. Among the trendiest, the Q Bar in Old Town's Hotel Albuquerque offers contemporary jazz stylists on a regular basis. And the plush surroundings of the Ranchers Club in the Hilton Albuquerque also make a fine setting for the sounds of jazz.
Although its unassuming storefront doesn't seem much like a nightclub (and it's smoke-free and alcohol-free), the Outpost Performance Space is one of the best places to catch national and local jazz talent. The hybrid club/coffeehouse/concert hall books an eclectic mix of acoustic music and spoken word performances. Fans will also find traditional jazz being played by the house trio Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights at Mykonos Cafe and Taverna in the Mountain Run Shopping Center.
Just for laughs, drop by Laffs Comedy Club, where you can enjoy some of the best headlining stand-up comics on the national circuit.
