Due to a lack of tourist amenities and out of respect for the privacy of residents, the pueblo of Jemez is only open to the public during feast days. The Walatowa Visitor Center, located two miles north of the pueblo, has information about feast days, the pueblo, the Jemez Mountain National Recreation Area, and the Jemez Mountain Trail National Scenic Byway. The center offers interpretive exhibits that introduce visitors to the history, culture, and experience of the Jemez people. Group tours are available with advance arrangements. The museum shop offers a wide selection of pottery, gifts, music, books, jewelry, and apparel. The Jemez also serve traditional foods and sell arts and crafts, including their excellent pottery, at Red Rock, three miles north of the pueblo.
In the Village of Jemez Springs, the Jemez State Monument features exhibits and picnic areas along with prehistoric Indian ruins of the Towa people of Giusewa and the 17th-century Spanish mission of San Jose de los Jemez.
