Set on the north end of Lake Tahoe, this resort town offers year-round recreation. Sand Harbor in nearby Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park has a sandy beach, a boat ramp, kayak rentals, an interpretive center, and hiking trails. It also hosts the annual Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival in summer. Other recreational opportunities include biking, skiing and boarding, golf, fishing, and parasailing. Nearby ski areas include Diamond Peak and Mt. Rose Ski Resort.
