Reno lies at the junction of Interstate 80 (east-west) and U.S. Highway 395 (north-south). You can get to Reno's business and casino district by taking Business 395, which is also Virginia Street, Reno's main thoroughfare. McCarran Boulevard circles the city and provides access to all the major highways. While Reno has ample public transportation, you'll probably want a car if you plan to visit any nearby attractions.

Bus: RTC/Citifare (775-348-7433) provides bus transportation within Reno and neighboring Sparks. Some routes operate on a 24-hour schedule, and most major streets are covered. Basic fare is $1.65. Taxi: Taxis can be hailed on the street or at hotel/casino cab stands, or you can call for dispatch. Rate at flag drop is $2.30 with an additional $0.36 for each seventh mile. Flat rates for long distance travel (for instance, from Reno to Lake Tahoe) can be negotiated. Major companies include Whittlesea Checker Taxi (775-322-2222), Reno-Sparks Cab (775-333-3333), and Yellow Cab (775-355-5555).

Reno/Tahoe International Airport (RNO) lies four miles southeast of Reno's downtown business district adjacent to I-80 and US 395. It should take about 10 minutes to drive downtown from the airport. Transportation from the airport to downtown Reno:Almost all major Reno hotels provide courtesy van service for their guests. Be sure to check with your hotel for details when you make reservations. If your hotel does not provide this service, rental cars and taxis are available. Bus: RTC/Citifare bus #24 provides service from the airport to downtown casinos. For fare and schedule information, call 702-348-7433. Shuttle: Shuttle buses are most economical if your destination is Lake Tahoe or one of the nearby ski resorts.
