It is not difficult to negotiate Buffalo by car. Since the downtown business district (the center of which is Niagara Square) is not far from the shores of Lake Erie, which forms the city's western border, major streets originating near the city's center radiate diagonally to the east. Main Street from the Theatre District to the foot of the thoroughfare is closed to vehicular traffic, forming a pedestrian mall called Buffalo Place. Metered parking is not difficult to find in the downtown area; unmetered street-side parking spots are also available, but they tend to be claimed quickly. Traffic generally runs smoothly except during morning (7 to 9 am) and evening (4 to 6 PM) rush hours. Canada is easily accessible via the Peace Bridge.
