Buffalo party central is right downtown on Chippewa Street. Most nights of the week, it's choc-a-block with revelers floating from club to club. Live rock and roll bands can be heard at Big Shotz and the Crocodile Bar, just two of many stops along the Chip Strip. Also downtown, the Lafayette Tap Room features live blues from national recording acts and local musicians, and Soundlab fills the ear with the alternative buzz.
The Allentown district has its share of bars and clubs too. Head to Merlin's for a mix of live rock and blues sounds. You'll also find live blues and rock bands at the Central Park Grill.
The historic Colored Musicians' Club, which dates back to 1918, is a rare survivor of an earlier era. Big bands play here several nights a week. A more intimate brand of jazz can be heard at the Dakota Grill, where small ensembles perform Wednesday through Saturday. Smooth lounge sounds can be heard Tuesday through Saturday at E.B. Green's.
