Niagara's awesome beauty is one of the wonders of the continent. From Prospect Point both the American and Canadian falls can be viewed at the same time. A 282-foot observation tower is located here. Nearby is the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center, a spiral-shaped building with exhibits on the history and geology of the falls. The Visitor Center has a film and a Great Lakes garden. The Maid of the Mist tour boat gives you a truly close-up view of the falls, flying spray, bubbling surf, and all. Goat Island, accessible by foot and auto bridges, separates the Canadian and American falls. The Cave of the Winds Trip, originating on Goat Island, follows wooden walkways through the spray at the base of the American falls. Nearby is the Aquarium with more than 1,500 marine specimens. North of the falls is Whirlpool State Park, overlooking the spectacular Niagara River Gorge whirlpool and rapids, and the Niagara Power Project Power Vista, a glass-enclosed observation building with a fine view of the gorge and exhibits.
In the area is the well-known Artpark at Lewiston, a state park devoted to the visual and performing arts. Shop at the Fashion Outlets of Niagara, a huge outlet mall.
