This attractive community on the northern edge of the Finger Lakes is the birthplace of the women's rights movement in the United States. Here, in 1848, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and others organized a convention of 300 activists that resulted in the "Declaration of Sentiments." You can visit the Stanton House and other historic sites at the Women's Rights National Historical Park. Nearby, you'll find the National Women's Hall of Fame, the Seneca Falls Historical Society, and the Urban Cultural Park/Heritage Area Visitors Center. In neighboring Waterloo, the birthplace of Memorial Day, you can visit the farm where Joseph Smith organized the Mormon church in 1830. You'll find abundant opportunities to view wildlife at Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, a major stopping ground for waterfowl during their bi-annual migrations. The area is also noted for its numerous wineries and farmers markets.
